The DME server runs on Windows and Linux platforms (see Technical Architecture). DME recommends the following minimum specifications for a system with 100 users:
Server hardware
A 32 bit Intel or AMD based server equipped with at least:
- 3.0 GHz processor (32-bit)
- 2 GB RAM
- 75 GB hard drive
- 100/1000 Mbit network interface card
- 1 available USB or RS232 communication port (USB only supported on Windows)
- Siemens MC35i modem
- CD/DVD drive
Furthermore, a fast Internet connection is required.
For larger systems, add more memory and hard drive space.

Furthermore, at least Firefox 2.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 is required to access the DME Web Administration Interface. Internet Explorer 6 also works, but does not show all design elements correctly.
